Foresting & Framing Resilient Urban Islands

The design is orienting urban areas to develop along the north side of the main Ca Mau- Bac Lieu River and the highway of Ca Mau as a linear city. The new city center will be located on the west side of the old city where is between two large river and canal, Doc and Quang Lo Phung Hiep. Furthermore, there will be massive industry areas take place on the west side of Doc River. Besides, the urban areas spread to the north based on the existing canals system perpendicular to the main river where people still do farming. Simultaneously, the extension of U Minh forest on the south side of Ca Mau- Bac Lieu river to the east of the old city creates a natural shield to protect urban areas from salinity intrusion. Otherwise, the east side of the old city still develops to be a rural area where people are strongly live with aqua-agriculture.
