Exploring an alternative future of urbanisms
Minh Quang Nguyen is a Vietnamese independent urbanist and architect trained in Belgium. He and his collaborators (mainly RUA-OSA) endeavor to express their ideas of a new settlement paradigm that reengages to landscape in the context of the ever-urbanized world and global warming through making proposals, design research commissions, and competitions in Vietnam and Belgium.
In a small room located in Leuven, Belgium, Quang founded BIT - rooms with collaborators.
The concept of "BIT - rooms" is to create a series of spaces hosting research and designs in architecture, landscape, and urbanism. The founder and collaborators have worked in a broad territory covering different contexts, ranging from Asia to Europe. BIT - rooms's designs are based on a deep reading of landscape, urban logic, and climate. This is a platform where new design philosophies are tested. The terms research, urbanism, landscape, and architecture are brought together. For us, we design all projects with the eyes of researchers in order to address a broader story of urbanism rather than just merely solving the problems. At the start, BIT - rooms has focused on several competitions as a way to introduce our design philosophy to the world.
